TRB WebBoard

TRB has established a web site which hosts specialized "conferencing" software. This software, called WebBoard, provides many of the functions and capabilities needed to support effective sharing of research data. The intent is to provide a series of online "conferences" which are topical in nature.

"Open" conferences can be established which permit public users to view and post comments for discussion. "Moderated" conferences permit the conference managers to guide and shape discussion forums. Additional membership-only conferences can be established to faciliate the flow of information among workgroup and committee members.

Here are a few of the features you will encounter on the WebBoard:

  • Individual conferences by workgroup areas of interest.
  • Various conference types within subject areas.
  • Participation via conventional email packages, web browsers, and news readers.
  • Notifications via mailing lists (sometimes called Listservs) in a variety of forms (including digest).
  • Online discussion forums, including chat.
  • The ability to configure your own user profile.
