TRB’s National Cooperative Freight Research Program (NCFRP) has issued a request for proposals to create a web-based tool that identifies how the findings and conclusions of NCFRP products can be used as input to the successful implementation of the freight provisions of the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21) Act. The project will also identify future freight research needs that would support the development of a national freight strategy. Proposals are due July 31, 2013.

TRB standing committees have issued  calls for papers for the TRB 93rd Annual Meeting, January 12-16, 2014, in Washington, D.C, and the Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board (TRR). The 2013 series marks the 50th year of TRB’s peer-reviewed journal, which debuted as the Highway Research Record in 1963; became the Transportation Research Record in 1974, with Number 480; and added the subtitle, Journal of the Transportation Research Board, in 2000, with Number 1653. TRB is cosponsoring the 2013 Barge and Rail Symposium: Moving Freight Between Multimodal Systems on August 14-16, 2013, in Louisville, Kentucky. The symposium will explore the movement of freight via the nation's inland waterway and rail systems, those systems' interactions and interdependencies, and options to improve the multimodal efficiency of both systems.
